Tips & Recipes
From an At-Home-Yogi-Mama’s Kitchen!
I am all about combining comfort & lightness in all that I do, so naturally that has found it’s way into the kitchen!
Ahimsa & Veggies
You may be familiar with the word “ahimsa”, which is apart of Patanjali’s 8-Limbed path towards a meaningful life, or higher consciousness.
Ahimsa, in English, means "non-violence". This a big reason why you see many people who practice yoga dabble into vegan & vegetarianism. They believe that they are practicing ahimsa by not hurting living animals.
Tailoring your nutrition to Ahimsa can mean a few things:
Vegan – No meat, dairy or eggs
Vegetarian – No meat of any kind
Pescetarian – Fish being the only meat in your nutrition
((Meat Lovers))
Do not fret if you can not give up your shushi nights, or throwing a nice big steak on the grill in the summer! Ahimsa can be tailored to any lifestyle & any kitchen!
Maybe your version of a non-violent plate is to find the happiest, best treated meat to place in front of you, and maybe even say a little prayer of thanks; giving homeage, respect & honor to this animal.
Food should not be anything less than a form of love & joy. It should fuel you & keep you balanced.
The moment that you begin to stress out over what you are eating is the moment you know you need to check yo' self!
These recipes are ones that I use in my daily life that keep me feeling fueled, happy & light, but not sacrificing indulgence & taste!
Enjoy! <3
