Moon Smoothie
The Lady's Holiday Smoothie

Moon Cycle • Lunar Cycle • Lady's Holiday...ah, what a lovely holiday you are!
Completely natural & necessary
...but not always comfortable.
Here is a simple & delicious concoction for you to sip on when you, lovely lady, are on your moon cycle!
Even if you're not - this smoothie will leave you feeling satisfied. Best of all, it is good for you!
Almond Milk & Almond Butter --- For their calcium/magnesium, almonds may help bring some relief to the uncomfortable tummy-turns. (Sidenote: I always try to avoid dairy, but especially during this special time, since it is shown to actually worsen symptoms.)
Flaxseeds --- They could actually help to regulate your cycle & even limit some of the not-so-fun symptoms.
Chia Seeds --- The essential fatty acids help to balance out hormones & (at the risk of getting a bit nerdy) here is a scientific fact: The fatty acids help to slow the release of protoglandins - substances that are known to help cause cramping. (Get these babies in my smoothie, now!)
Brown Rice Protein Powder --- Animal protein that's found in meat & dairy is shown to worsen "lady's holiday" symptoms. I love to use a vanilla flavored brown-rice based, vegan protein for all of my smoothies!
Dark Chocolate --- Duh. ;) How could I not? I could tell you that dark chocolate is scientifically proven to ease all of your holiday symptoms, but let's be honest - It's just plain delicious! (I also added a bit of cocoa powder for an extra chocolatey kick!)
The Recipe
1C Almond Milk (I used vanilla!)
2tbs Natural Almond Butter
1tbs Cocoa Powder
1tbs Ground Flaxseed
2 Squares of your favorite Dark Chocolate
1 Scoop of Vegan, Brown-Rice Protein Powder
•Blend all the ingredients together
Sprinkle Chia Seeds on top
Maybe pour your smoothie into a mason jar and...
•jump into a big bubble bath
•have your husband/boyfriend/cat/dog massage you
•read a book
•watch Sex and the City
enjoy this smoothie & your lady's holiday!
xoxo
Ash
